Bio:

David is a General Partner with BTN Ventures (www.btn.vc), a $50M national technology-focused venture fund. He serves on multiple public and private company boards and has extensive experience in company formation. David’s corporate operational experience includes VP, GM positions with Respironics (acquired by Philips) and Covidien (acquired by Medtronic) followed by a Senior Managing Director role with Headwaters SC (acquired by EY).

David’s venture experience includes an EVP role with a Nomura Securities funded tech start-up, a VP GM role with a corporate venture group, being a founding partner of two venture funds, and serving on multiple tech company boards. Among David’s non-profit activities is the African American Directors Forum (www.aadfnational.org) that he co-founded in 2017 that has become a one of the more highly regarded national platforms for board-ready and board-proven African American executives. David is a Distinguished Alumnus Awardee of University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering, earned his MBA at the Harvard Business School, and leads a program for the US Navy War College entitled, “World Class Performance: The Role of Leadership, Process, and Talent.”

David began his career at PPG Industries as a design engineer at PPG’s Barberton, Ohio chemical manufacturing plant. During David’s 30 year corporate career, he led strategy formulation for more than 50 businesses with revenue from zero to over $2B, completing his corporate career leading corporate strategy and venture activity for Respironics. His company formation experience extends across technology startups, professional services, real estate development, and real estate investing and includes: BlueTree Venture Fund, MCAPS, LLC, AAIIRE, LLC, DDRC327, LLC.

David currently serves on the boards of First National Bank (NYSE: FNB); Koppers (NYSE: KOP); Deep Lake Capital (Nasdaq: DLCAU), II-VI, Inc. (Nasdaq: IIVI) Armada Supply Chain Solutions ($4B privately held company); and Stanford Research Institute (SRI). His leadership positions on those boards include Lead Director, Nom Gov Chair, and Audit Chair.
David is an avid golfer, cross trainer, an appreciator of the arts, and enjoys cooking for his wife and family.
